| On Sunday March 29, 2009 the Czech Sudoku Championship took place in Moravian city of Brno. Many of players playing also on our site attended it. We are acknowledging their achievements and congratulate all of them since they definitely won our respect. The best of them made the teams of Czech Republic representing this sudoku powerhouse at the World Sudoku Championship in April in Slovakia.
Championship was set in three blocks from which the top 8 players advanced to the final block which was broken to quaterfinals, semifinals and the finals. From both quaterfinals of two groups of four sudoku wariors two players advanced to semifinals. After semifinals the best three of players advanced to dramatic finals. Whole final block was played on the stage where all spectators in attendance could see every move of players. The tasks were mostly sudoku variants but there was also one classic table. As expected, the championship was a battle of brains, but also of will and nerves. It is easily possible that we will see the same names at the top after World Sudoku Championship in April. The top three players are young, fast and ingenious enough to show the best of them and even detronize current World Champion from US, Mr. Thomas Snyder. The fourth player Mr. Jakub Ondrousek - young Czech sudoku prodigy of online sudoku known as jaku111 can also "shuffle the cards". Players we all know from our scoreboards Ms. Jana Brizova aka tojejedno and Mr. Pavel Kadlecik aka kousek-nebe are also showing a great form. Former World Champion Ms. Jana Tylovaˇ as well as Mr. Robert Babilon has the advantage of deep experience from the top tournaments. Slovaks Ms. Anna Medvedova aka Ankora and Mr. Pavel Jaselsky aka pali7 together with other members of Slovak teams will have home advantage. In any case April is going to be interesting month for all of us.
