Why Canadian National League in Sudoku Sudoku Champions Online Canadian National League in Sudoku was born out of desire to unite thousands of sudoku devotees in Canada and give them a chance to compare their skills to each other, to know each other in a regular competition and to facilitate building a strong Canadian team for world chamionship. Checking of the results of this year's World Sudoku Championship, which took place in Goa, India in April 2008 for results of Canadian Team was actually the seed which has grown to this Canadian National League in sudoku. Because, there was no Canadian Team.as it was neighter in the previous year's Championship in Prague, Czech Republic nor in the first World Sudoku Championship in Lucca, Italy in the year 2006. We think our country - Canada is rich and civilized country which should have a strong team for world competition. We know many Canadaian sudoku enthusiasts who deserve to be represented at the World Championship. We knew that sudoku can be played online as there are hundreds of daily sudoku offered on Internet. From these simple ideas came out our free online Canadian National League in Sudoku Working of Canadian National League in Sudoku Every day we bring you a sudoku puzzle. These daily puzzles can be played by registered players only. Since registration is free our League is open to every Canadian. Once player is registered he/she can login for a game. When the game loads up the time starts to tick. This time is measured on player's computer so it is not affected by outside world as for example temporary slowness of internet connection. The times are collected upon submission of the solutions. Upon the click on "SUBMIT" button it sometime appears that time is still running but in fact the time has already been sent over to server preciselly at the moment of clicking on the "SUBMIT" button. When the submitted data is received by our server it is validated and in the case of the positive validation of submitted solutions these times are recorded in our database In case of invalid solutions the time is set to 23:59:59:99. According to these times are then calculated dynamic daily scoreboards. These scoreboards are dynamic while the game is current that means to 11:59:59.99 PM of the time in current Pacific time zone. That means either Pacific Standard time or the Pacific Summer time. After a new day started in Vancouver all started and not finished plays are becoming invalid and are assigned one point only - the courtesy point for trying. All valid plays for the day are then assigned a final point value, which is based on the number of players who finished this particullar play in time longer that the time of evaluated game, which counts also unsuccessful plays or plays started and not finished on time. Please remember this and allow yourself enough time to finish the play if you can. On the other hand, even one point for trying can make a difference in monthly scorebords as it is bigger than 0 (zero) exactly by 1 (one). Points assigning in detail Every player who starts playing on a particular day receives a point regardless of successful solution. Solution can be unsuccessful by default in case of being timed out. Time is measured on the basis of Pacific time zone. It may look like advantage to players from the places located to the east from Pacific Time Zone but in fact they have same 24 hours a day for play as anybody else. A player who submits a valid solution for daily puzzle is awarded a position according to the solution time and receives a point for every player on the list with longer solution time. Until the end of a day this list is dynamicaly updated with every valid or invalid solution submitted. The final daily scoreboard for the day is calculated one hour after midnight and the positions and points of players are recorded for monthly scoreboard. All unsuccessful players are awarded same position and identical points value of 1. Daily and monthly scoreboards are available to see for all in our "Scores" page.
